IEEE802.11n Description

802.11n needs to be described separately. At present, the mainstream market uses this protocol for WiFi transmission.
802.11n is a wireless transmission standard protocol. It is an epoch-making technology. Its appearance makes the rate of wireless networks increase greatly. In order to improve the two previous wireless network standards, including the optimization of the network and traffic deficiencies of 802.11a and 802.11g.

Its maximum transmission speed is 600 Mbit/s in theory, but it can not reach such a high speed in practice due to environmental and design factors. Compared with the previous 54mbit/s, it is greatly improved and the transmission distance will also be increased.
The IEEE 802.11 working group established the high throughput (HT) research group in 2002 to formulate a new generation of standards, and formally promulgated the 802.11n standard based on MIMO-OFDM in 2009. The most significant thing is that it has made a breakthrough in rate.

802.11 adopts several new technologies, which intuitively bring users a brand-new experience zone. Under this protocol, the WLAN industry has greatly developed, and the concept of WiFi has taken root. Up to now, a large number of 802.11n terminals are still used in the network.
802.11n technology realizes greater bandwidth and brings greater application scenarios to WiFi.
802.11n has brought many new technologies. In 802.11n, the throughput of WLAN technology is fully improved by combining the optimization of the physical layer and the MAC layer. MIMO designed by physical layer technology is very critical. MIMO-OFDM 40MHz and short GI technology are used to improve the throughput of the physical layer to 600mbps.

GI means that, due to the influence of the multipath effect, information will be transmitted through multiple paths, which may collide with each other and lead to intersymbol interference. For this reason, the 802.11a/g standard requires that when sending information symbols, there must be a time interval of 0.8us between information symbols, which is called the guard interval.
In addition to the physical layer optimization, 802.11n also optimizes the MAC protocol layer, using block ACK, frame aggregation, and other technologies, which greatly improves the efficiency of MAC. Only the physical layer is optimized if the MAC layer protocol is not optimized. It is like building a wide road, but it is still not fast without good lane planning.
