Introduction to PON Module

A PON module is a kind of optical module. It works on OLT terminal equipment and connects with ONU office equipment. It is an important part of the PON network. PON optical modules can be divided into APON (ATM PON) optical modules, BPON (broadband passive network) optical modules, EPON (Ethernet) optical modules, and GPON (gigabit passive network) optical modules according to the transmission protocol. At present, EPON optical modules and GPON optical modules are mostly used. The following figure shows the GPON optical module.   The transmission part of the PON optical module is in continuous mode. The OLT sends an electrical signal with a certain bit rate through the golden finger of the module, and drives the BOSA device to transmit a modulated optical signal at a corresponding rate after being processed by the driver chip inside the module. The module has a digital monitoring alarm function, which can automatically control the circuit and maintain the stability of the output optical signal. The PON module emits light at 1490nm. What is a PON module
The receiving part of the PON optical module is in burst mode. When the module receives an optical signal with a certain code rate, the optical detection diode of the module converts the received light into an electrical signal, which is amplified by the preamplifier and then outputs an electrical signal with a corresponding code rate to the OLT terminal. The wavelength of light received by the PON module is 1310nm.  The PON module generally has a transmission distance of only 10KM or 20KM. The interface type is generally the SC interface, and the working rate is generally gigabit or 10 gigabit. The PON optical module, as one of the necessary accessories for FTTH, is widely used in access networks.  The above is the PON Module Introduction from Shenzhen HDV Phoelectron Technology Co., Ltd
