What is the optical module used for?

The optical module is a photoelectric signal conversion device, which can be inserted into network signal transceiver equipment such as routers, switches, and transmission equipment. Both electrical and optical signals are magnetic wave signals. The transmission range of electrical signals is limited, while optical signals can be transmitted faster and farther. However, some current devices recognize electrical signals, so there are photoelectric conversion modules.

Due to the high bandwidth and long transmission distance of optical fiber transmission, while the traditional cable transmission distance is short and susceptible to electromagnetic interference, in order to extend the transmission distance of communication, optical fiber is basically used for transmission. With the participation of optical modules, electrical signals can be converted into optical signals for transmission in optical fibers, and then converted from optical signals into electrical signals to be received by network equipment, thereby extending the transmission distance of digital communication.
The working principle of the optical module at the transmitting end is to input an electrical signal with a certain code rate through the gold finger terminal, and then drive the laser to send out an optical signal at a corresponding rate after being processed by the driver chip;
The working principle at the receiving end is to convert the received optical signal into an electrical signal through the detector, and then convert the received weak current signal into a voltage signal by the transimpedance amplifier, thereby amplifying the electrical signal, and then removing the overvoltage signal by the limiting amplifier. The high or low voltage signal keeps the output electrical signal stable.
